Privacy, terms & your data.

This website (kakaohouse.co) is operated by Kakao House (“Kakao House”, “we”, “us”), an origin-driven cacao sourcing platform for Venezuelan fine cacao. Contact: hello@kakaohouse.co.

Kakao House acts as the data controller (GDPR) and personal information handler (PIPL) for the data described in this document.

• Identification and contact data: name, company name, business email, telephone / WhatsApp number and country code.
• Commercial data: requested batch, tonnage, timing, product and process information you choose to share.
• Consent records: whether you accepted these terms and marketing communications, with date and time.
• Technical data: anonymised usage data needed for security and to operate the site.

• Handling your request or reservation — pre-contractual measures (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b); PIPL Art. 13(2)).
• Contacting you by email, phone, WhatsApp or WeChat about your request — pre-contractual measures and legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Promotions, harvest alerts and new batches — only with your separate, explicit and freely given consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 7; PIPL Art. 13(1) and Art. 14; ePrivacy Directive Art. 13). Refusing does not affect your reservation.
• Legal, tax and export obligations — GDPR Art. 6(1)(c); PIPL Art. 13(3).

Data is stored in a secured cloud database with access restricted to authorised Kakao House staff. Enquiry and reservation data is kept for up to 3 years from our last contact, or longer where required by commercial, tax or export law. Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it.

Kakao House operates between Venezuela, the European Union, China, Australia and other markets, and our hosting and email providers may process data outside your country. Transfers from the EU/EEA rely on adequacy decisions or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (GDPR Art. 46). Transfers of personal information out of mainland China are carried out with your separate consent and in line with PIPL Chapter III (Art. 38–39), including the standard contract mechanism where applicable.

We never sell personal data. We share it only with service providers acting on our behalf (cloud hosting, email delivery, messaging), and — when you reserve a batch — with logistics, inspection and export partners strictly as needed to fulfil the order, or with authorities when legally required.

You may at any time request access, rectification, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing, and withdraw consent without affecting prior lawful processing (GDPR Art. 15–22; PIPL Art. 44–50). Unsubscribe links are included in every marketing email, and you can reply “STOP” on WhatsApp.

Write to hello@kakaohouse.co; we reply within 30 days (15 working days for PIPL requests). You may also complain to your local data protection authority or, in China, the Cyberspace Administration of China.

This platform is for businesses and professionals aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

• Batch information (origin, profile, volumes, prices) is indicative and may change before contract.
• An online reservation is a non-binding expression of interest. A sale is only concluded once both parties sign a proforma invoice or sales contract setting out price, Incoterm, quality, payment and delivery terms.
• Allocations are held for a limited period while our team contacts you and may be released if not confirmed.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to use the site lawfully. All content and brand elements belong to Kakao House.
• To the extent permitted by law, Kakao House is not liable for indirect damages arising from use of the site. Mandatory consumer and data-protection rights are not affected.
• These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the seat of Kakao House, without prejudice to mandatory rules of your country of residence. Disputes will first be resolved amicably.

Our forms contain two separate, unticked boxes: one (required) to accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy, and one (optional) to receive promotions. Each submission records which boxes you ticked and when. On submission we send a welcome email confirming your request.

您的信息可能被传输至中国境外（包括委内瑞拉、欧盟、澳大利亚）的服务器，我们将依法采取保护措施。您可随时查阅、更正、删除个人信息或撤回同意，请联系 hello@kakaohouse.co。网上预订不具法律约束力，交易以双方签署的形式发票或合同为准。
